The following are amongst the groups that meet at the Church:
|
There are a number of House Groups with varied programmes which meet at various times in peoples' homes and follow their own particular pattern. Study Programmes, Bible study, Prayer all feature in these more intimate groups. They are good ways of getting to know people in a very informal setting - as well as developing your faith. Follow the link above for further information about all of the different groups.
Luncheon Club There is, at present, a luncheon club organised by the Church for retired people.
The club exists to promote friendship as well as refreshment. We have an annual outing to a seaside venue. For more information please contact Jim Lamb. |

This is an informal group of our members and friends who enjoy a ramble together on Sunday afternoons or Bank Holidays. These are gentle and pleasant usually around the Cambridgeshire countryside, but occasionally they enjoy a more strenuous walk. A group of about 50 of us meet on Tuesday evenings at 19:30. The programme is varied and we benefit from the wide range of speakers available to us in Cambridge from all sorts of disciplines and interests. The 'Fireside' originated at a Methodist Church in Cambridge which is now closed. Originally it was intended to meet the needs of servicemen returning from the 1945 war and they met literally around the Church Fireside. The venue has changed and there are now as many women as men, but the old title has remained. All ages are welcome. |

Disciple Bible Study Course Members from Wesley and other churches in the Circuit began the Disciple course of Bible Study in October last year and completed it in June this year. About 70% of the Bible is studied in 34 sessions, with a lot of ‘homework’ (or home reading) to be done each week – with a break every few weeks. The emphasis is on learning together, with a complete freedom to express your own ideas but also to help people know what they believe and why they believe it. Each session includes a short video and consideration of the implications of the passages studied for Christian discipleship today. |

MethSoc (Student Society) Wesley Church was built in 1913 with the intention of being particularly geared to serving the needs of both undergraduates and graduates. We have maintained that tradition through the years. MethSoc is part of a national association of Methodist Students at most British Universities and aims to provide a focus for Methodist (and other) students and encourage and support them in their faith. It is a student-led body with an elected President each term. It is informal and friendly. The main meeting at Wesley is after the morning service in what we call the Octagon Room. Sometimes the meeting will be led by the President or other student. Sometimes there is a visiting speaker. If there has been a visiting Preacher at the morning service then he/she will sometimes be invited to speak. A lunch is provided following the meeting. There are other meetings under the auspices of MethSoc during the week - small groups which meet together for study, prayer and fellowship. There is a prayer breakfast each Friday morning of term in one of the students' rooms and a termly communion breakfast at Wesley. The minister of Wesley acts as Chaplain to MethSoc. For more information see the Cambridge MethSoc Pages. |

38th Cambridge Brownies have been meeting at Wesley Church since their foundation in 2001. We are a group of 24 girls aged between seven and ten, led by a team of student guiders. Like all Brownies we have fun taking part in indoor and outdoor activities, sometimes with members of other Brownie, Guide and Cub groups from the area. Our weekly meetings are action-packed and full of challenges, games and activities, which sometimes count towards badges and have often been suggested by the Brownies themselves. The girls are placed in small, mixed-age teams called Sixes, which helps to foster leadership skills in the older girls and enables new Brownies to mix more easily. If you are interested in joining us, as a Brownie or a leader, please contact the District Commissioner of City NW District c/o Cambs East County HQ, 200A Perne Road, Cambridge, tel. 01223 211377 or email cambseastguides@care4free.net. You might also like to visit www.girlguiding.org.uk and www.cambseastguides.org.uk, our national and county websites. |
